The Health Community of West Africa Association (HCOWAA) in partnership with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) held the AI Healthcare Seminar, 2025 For Ghana Health Service National Programme Managers under the theme: Harnessing AI For Smarter Disease Control and Health System Transformation in Ghana at the HCOWA headquarters, La-trade fair, Accra.

The event marked a strategic alignment between national health priorities and cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, targeting newly appointed National Programme Managers tasked with leading Ghana’s disease control efforts. 

Speaking on behalf of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Gaetan Charles Adangabey, Chief physiotherapist and head of physiotherapy, Institutional Care Division of the Ghana Health Service expressed profound appreciation to HCOWAA to bringing together the stakeholders to jointly discuss how AI can improve healthcare delivery particularly on the part of the newly appointed National Program Managers of GHS. He further encouraged all participants to get involved so together the discussions can reach fruitful conclusions.

In his keynote speech, Prince Opoku Dogbey, the Vice President of the Health Community of West Africa framed AI as a transformative force for Ghana’s health sector, urging collaboration between policymakers, technologists, and frontline health workers.

“AI is not a luxury—it is a necessity to protect our communities, optimize resources, and save lives,” he declared. Today, we move from rhetoric to action, equipping our leaders with tools to predict outbreaks, streamline diagnostics, and deliver equity in healthcare.”  He stated
