The Chairman of the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies, Tang Hong, has urged stakeholders in healthcare to move forward with a shared commitment to improving health outcomes and advancing medical knowledge in order to build a healthier future at the just-ended AI Healthcare Summit organised by the Health Community of West Africa Association at Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

Giving the keynote address at the conference, he indicated that the ongoing cooperation between China and Ghana has included efforts to combat infectious diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, and more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Both China and Ghana have rich histories of traditional medicine that offer valuable insights that can complement modern medical practices. The exchange of knowledge in this area holds great promise for both countries, as we seek to combine the best of our medical traditions with modern advancements’, he added.

The medical cooperation between China and Ghana has been a cornerstone of our bilateral relationship, bringing tangible benefits to our people.

As the chairman of the Ghana Association of Chinese Societies and the president of the Ghana Chinese Chamber of Commerce, he made this promise:

“I would like to, together with my colleagues, do what we can to facilitate private-public partnerships, to organise training programs and workshops to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals and administrative staff, to support local businesses in manufacturing medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment, reducing dependence on imports and improving supply chain resilience, to facilitate access to finance, creating platforms for tech companies to collaborate with healthcare providers, fostering innovation with artificial intelligence means in service delivery’.

The 2025 WEST AFRICA AI HEALTHCARE SUMMIT & CONFERENCE aimed at promoting regional integration of AI in healthcare to enhance service delivery and brought together some key stakeholders, such as reps from the various embassies of Togo, Guinea, Niger, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria; partner organisations such as Ghana Health Service, Ghana Medical Association, Health Facilities Regulatory Agency, Ghana Standards Authority, etc.; and renowned health professionals.

The event received significant support from key Chinese organisations, including the Sichuan Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Health Commission of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Provincial Association for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan Medical Association, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Sichuan Council.
