The Health Community of West Africa (HCOWA) Association is set to host a high-level seminar focused on AI Diagnosis and Treatment Deployment. The event aims to introduce the HCOWA system of framework and emphasize the growing demand for AI-driven healthcare solutions in both public and private medical institutions.
This initiative seeks to launch the integration of AI in healthcare systems, transforming diagnostics, treatment planning, and operational efficiency. Under the theme, “Advancing AI Diagnosis and Treatment: Building a Framework for Healthcare Transformation,“ the seminar will gather key stakeholders, including policymakers, medical professionals, AI developers, regulatory bodies, and industry leaders.
The seminar is expected to accelerate AI adoption in West African healthcare, fostering innovation and regulatory alignment to improve medical diagnostics and treatment across the region.
In addition to the set objectives, HCOWA Association in partnership with its developmental partners aim to;
- Develop a structured roadmap for AI integration in West Africa.
- Define steps for AI adoption across public and private healthcare facilities.
- Provide guidelines for AI compliance in healthcare.
- Partnerships with Chinese and West African healthcare institutions.
- Encouraging national and international stakeholders to adopt AI solutions
Summary discussions will cover AI demand assessment, the role of private healthcare facilities in AI adoption, and regulatory compliance with Ghana’s Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). Experts will also explore AI-driven supply chain solutions for medical consumables and present strategic recommendations for AI integration.
In alignment with the objectives of the AI Diagnosis and Treatment Symposium, we are pleased to present a series of keynote presentations from key organizations, each offering valuable insights into the role of AI in transforming healthcare.
The Ghana Health Service will provide an overview of AI in public healthcare, discussing the assessment and integration efforts underway to enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve healthcare delivery. The Private Health Facilities Association will explore the integration of AI within private healthcare facilities, highlighting the challenges and opportunities of adopting AI for better patient care and operational efficiency.
The Federation of Africa Medical Equipment will focus on the role of AI in medical consumables and systems, showcasing how AI is revolutionizing the use of medical equipment to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. The Ghana Centre for Disease Control will discuss AI applications in disease surveillance, demonstrating how AI is being used to predict and manage national disease outbreaks.
Lastly, the Ghana Medical Association will address the national healthcare upgrade required for AI integration, providing insights into the resources and strategies needed to implement AI across the healthcare sector effectively.
International collaboration will be a key highlight, with speakers from Togo, Guinea, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire sharing insights on AI applications in healthcare. Additionally, case studies from China will showcase successful AI-driven healthcare implementations.
