The Health Community of West Africa (HCOWA) Association has embarked on a high-level mission to China aimed at deepening partnerships, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening Ghana’s position as a leading economic and healthcare hub in West Africa.
The delegation is led by HCOWA President Mr. Sihong Jiang, accompanied by Vice President Prince Opoku Dogbey, the Registrar of the Traditional Medicine Practice Council – Dr. Yusuf Yakubu Tobor, and the Deputy Director, Resource Mobilization and Coordination, at the Ghana Health Service – Nicholas Nyagblornu. Together, the team will engage key Chinese stakeholders from government, industry, and academia.
A core part of the mission is to showcase Ghana’s growing appeal as an investment destination. The delegation will highlight the country’s expanding opportunities in pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, and related value-chain industries. They will also present Ghana’s robust standards, regulatory frameworks, and policies governing traditional medicine, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to quality, innovation, and international compliance.
The team is also scheduled to deliver a comprehensive report on the 2025 West Africa Healthcare Expo, presenting major outcomes, strategic engagements, and insights that reflect the region’s shifting healthcare and investment landscape. The report is expected to inform new partnerships and strengthen investor confidence in Ghana’s health sector.
In addition, HCOWA will use the mission to create early visibility for the highly anticipated 2026 China–West Africa Medical Summit & Expo, aimed at fostering collaboration, innovation, and industry growth between China and West Africa. Engagements in China will lay the groundwork for strong participation from investors, manufacturers, and policymakers.
This mission underscores HCOWA’s leadership in driving international cooperation and investment-led development across West Africa’s healthcare ecosystem, while positioning Ghana as a strategic gateway to the region.
