On July 12, 2024, the Telecel Ghana Foundation offered free screenings for 199 women at Tesebo No. 2 and Nsuta in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region using their rural ultrasound scan.
As part of the Foundation’s Connected Health programs, this initiative aims to provide mothers a better chance at having successful pregnancies and births by detecting gynecological challenges early on.
The Foundation’s community and health outreach programs are anchored by this endeavor. “In our opinion, a mother shouldn’t pass away while giving birth. The Head of Foundation, Sustainability, and External Communications at Telecel Ghana, Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, told reporters after the exercise that prenatal care is crucial for the health of both the mother and the child.”
She continued to say that the aim of the project was to close the healthcare gap in rural areas by guaranteeing that pregnant mothers, irrespective of their location or financial status, receive necessary prenatal care and certain necessities during their pregnancy. The campaign places a strong emphasis on teaching women about pregnancy health, raising awareness, and encouraging proactive healthcare management in addition to the scans.
The Telecel Ghana Foundation, according to Ms. Rockson, aims to lower the rates of maternal and infant mortality and promote healthier pregnancies and births by identifying potential complications early. The recent activation of the foundation in Tesebo No. 2 and Nsuta further demonstrated the foundation’s continued commitment to maternal health.
Telecel Ghana Foundation is committed to supporting maternal health across the country and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal of reducing maternal mortality to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. Free scans have significantly benefited underserved mothers.
