The Health Community of West Africa Association (HCOWAA) and MAB International Hospital have forged a strategic alliance to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into medical treatment, diagnostics and traditional medicine—a significant step toward improving healthcare in West Africa. This alliance seeks to establish MAB as a regional center for AI-Powered healthcare innovation.
During a high-level meeting at MAB International Hospital, HCOWAA Vice President, Mr. Opoku Dogbey, outlined five key components of the partnership:
1. AI Treatment – MAB will serve as the focal point for AI-based treatments for private hospitals across Ghana.
2. AI-Powered Disease Control – Enhanced surveillance and management of diseases using AI systems.
3. AI in Traditional Medicine– Integrating AI with traditional practices like acupuncture and moxibustion.
4. AI Medical Supply Chain– Improving forecasting and distribution of medical supplies.
5. AI Medical Imaging & Diagnostics – Advanced tools for scans, MRIs, and lab diagnostics.
“Our main focus is to establish MAB as the center for other private hospitals to access AI in treatment, medical imaging and supply chain management. We will provide cutting-edge equipment, training, and maintenance services to ensure seamless operations.” Mr. Opoku emphasized.
The partnership also includes knowledge exchange programs, with Ms. Believe Domor, HCOWAA Secretary, highlighting the involvement of the 14th Chinese Medical Batch, which is ready to share expertise with MAB and other regional healthcare providers.
Mr. Opare Akuamoah-Boateng, Executive Director of MAB International Hospital, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “This partnership aligns with our vision to leverage technology in improving patient outcomes. We look forward to working with HCOWAA to transform healthcare delivery in West Africa.”
The initiative will not only enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficiency but also ensure that private hospitals across Ghana rely on MAB for AI-driven medical solutions. With plans for training programs and equipment servicing, the partnership promises to set new standards in healthcare innovation.
