The University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd. (UGMC), in a press statement released on June 30, 2024, announced the successful completion of a series of six kidney transplant surgeries done in collaboration with international medical professionals.
Chief Executive Officer of UGMC, Dr. Kwame Anim-Boamah, stated in an interview, “The successful completion of the first set of six kidney transplants underscores the center’s commitment to pushing boundaries, achieving medical excellence, and improving the lives of patients through cutting-edge interventions and compassionate care.”

Adding his comments to the success story, the Head of the Urology Department at UGMC, Dr. Emmanuel Asante, concluded that this milestone demonstrates the center’s abilities in surgical interventions and post-operative care.
