The Health Community of West Africa Association has honoured the Ministry of Health with a Healthcare Partnership Excellence Award in recognition of its support towards the successful organisation of the 3rd China–West Africa Medical Summit & Expo and AI Diagnosis Summit.
The citation was presented to the Ministry of Health during the opening ceremony of the summit and received by the Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Prof. Grace Ayensu-Danquah,, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Ghana International Mall in Accra.

The award acknowledged the Ministry’s partnership, institutional support and commitment to the event, which brought together healthcare professionals, businesses, exhibitors, investors and other stakeholders from Ghana, China and across West Africa.
According to the citation, the Ministry’s collaboration and support contributed significantly to the organisation and delivery of the gathering, which is aimed at strengthening cooperation in healthcare, investment, technology and innovation.

The Health Community of West Africa Association said the Ministry’s partnership reflects the importance of cooperation between public institutions and other stakeholders in advancing healthcare development in Ghana and the wider West African region.
The citation also recognised the Ministry’s shared commitment to creating opportunities for international cooperation and improving healthcare through stronger partnerships.
The presentation formed part of the opening ceremony of the 2026 China–West Africa Medical and Health Industry Expo and AI Deployment and Project Cooperation Summit, held under the theme, “Deepening AI Deployment: Empowering Health in West Africa and Reshaping the Development Landscape.”

The recognition of the Ministry comes as Ghana continues to strengthen partnerships with international stakeholders in healthcare, with discussions at the summit focusing on areas including investment, healthcare technology, local production, skills development and improved access to healthcare services.
The Health Community of West Africa Association, through the recognition, also underscored the value of sustained institutional support in creating platforms that connect Ghana and West Africa with international partners.
The award presentation was one of several recognitions made during the opening ceremony to acknowledge organisations and partners whose contributions supported the summit and its broader healthcare objectives.
