The first week of June brings summer temperatures that favor the release of grass pollen. There is a high risk of allergies across most of the country.
Finistère, located at the very extremity of the Brittany region, is the only department on the map to display a medium danger, indicated in orange.
For those who are allergic to grass pollen, this week is expected to be particularly challenging because hot, bright weather encourages the release of large amounts of pollen into the atmosphere!
The summer weather season officially begins this Saturday, June 1, with significant amounts of grass pollen in the air “the RSNA announced on the X social network on Friday. Finally, the sun has returned to France.
Which may not be good news for those who have allergies: “It looks like a summery first week of June, which will encourage the emission of grass pollens.”
There is a grass pollen alarm from RSNA. The French Ministry of Health lists these as some of the plant species for which there may be a very high risk of allergies.
Birch and pellitory, as well as cypress, cedar, juniper, and olive, are also included in the list.
According to the RSNA, parietaria and olive tree pollens currently provide a low to medium allergy risk in the Mediterranean region.
Pollen from oak trees and other flowering herbaceous plants poses little danger of causing allergies.
Pine pollen doesn’t cause allergies. However, be wary of linden trees that are in blossom as they may produce symptoms if you are nearby.
‘’There are numerous negative health repercussions of a pollen allergy: breathing difficulties, runny, stuffy, or itchy noses; watery, red, or itchy eyes; wheezing, or coughing…’’
